Tinnitus Treatment

  • Visit your family doctor to see if it is something medical like a new medication or increased dose.
  • See a hearing care provider for a hearing test since tinnitus is often associated with hearing loss. The clinician can often provide you with good information about it and can also often help in the management of tinnitus.
  • See an Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) doctor.
  • Try to make sure that you have soft, pleasant, neutral noise in your environment when possible. This can often help to partially cover up or ‘mask’ your tinnitus, making it less noticeable.
  • Get tinnitus management counselling from a hearing care provider.
  • If your clinician recommends hearing aids, consider it. This can sometimes help to reduce one’s perception of tinnitus.
