Oticon is poised to launch it's version of the popular rechargeable hearing instrument. They are coming out on the heels of the Phonak and Signia offerings. The main question here? What does it have to offer that is different?
The answer is simple and, for us as specialists, brilliant:
The batteries are interchangeable with ordinary zinc-air batteries.
This drastically reduces the cost of ownership and increases flexibility for patients. Should either the battery or charger fail, you can simply open the battery door remove the rechargeable battery and insert a regular battery and carry on with your day. This also removes the cost barrier of battery replacements of the built-in offerings from other companies.
ZPower, the world’s only developer of rechargeable, silver-zinc microbatteries, announced its collaboration with Oticon to make the award-winning Internet-connected Oticon Opn™ hearing aid rechargeable back in June of 2017.
This feature is retro-compatible with existing Oticon Opn hearing aids. So even if you purchased your Opn hearing instruments already, you can still be upgraded to rechargeable! What's even better is that it can all be done in office!
Look for this new feature to hit clinics this fall!
